Digest - May 2026

May was both the hard and energetic month. My pupils've shown the nice results in Olypiad.

I am proud of their activity to prove their English skills in the way they like. These tries give them valuable experience. By improving their abilities of knowing English these pupils also can discover more deeply our Ukrainian language too. Because throw foreign language we  can deeply discover the linguiscic phenomena of our own Ukrainian language. And its give to these pupils some joy to find out it by themselves.

The last week we had a lot of revision lessons, so to not make it borring I decide to organised some contests from different topics we had learnt during this term. The pupils liked them, especially 1st, 3d and 4th formers.

This school year ends and it brought  some joiment and hard work. And from time to time we all (teachers and pupils) were so tired. But there were happy and nice moments in our school life too, and they give us good experience to moveand overcome some difficulties.

At the end I want to wish everyone:

For my pupils:

Wishing you a fantastic and well-deserved summer break!
Congratulations on successfully wrapping up another great school year!
May your summer be filled with sunshine, relaxation, and joy.
Thank you for all your hard work and achievements this year!

For Teachers:

Pure Relaxation. Wishing you a peaceful summer free of grading and lesson plans.
True Appreciation. Thank you for making a lasting difference in  lives of your pupils.
Fresh Beginnings. Wishing you a wonderful rest before the next chapter begins.
Recharged Energy. May these sunny months restore your strength and inspiration.

The winners got their small prizes.

Our Amazing Easter Adventure!

This week our 3rd and 4th graders recently enjoyed a wonderful educational event called "Easter traditions". For the 5th graders the was organised a competition "Easter Races". It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and interactive games that brought English culture to life.

We started our journey by exploring the origins of the holiday.
To understand how the holiday is celebrated in English-speaking countries, we discussed several unique traditions:
  • The Easter Bunny: We learned that this "rabbit-spirit" is a symbol of fertility and is famous for hiding decorated eggs for children to find on Easter Sunday.
  • Hot Cross Buns: The children were fascinated to learn about these traditional buns marked with a white cross, which are eaten on Good Friday to protect homes from fire.
  • Egg-Rolling: We discovered that rolling hard-boiled eggs down a slope is a popular pastime in places like Northern England and Scotland—a tradition that also existed in Ukraine at the start of the 20th century!
The event was packed with interactive activities to keep everyone engaged:
  • Riddles & Games: Students solved Easter riddles about baskets, bunnies, and church services. We also played a True/False game to test our knowledge of holiday facts.
  • The Bunny Hokey Pokey Dance!
  • The Big Hunt: The highlight of the day was the Easter Egg Hunt. Our students proved they are the best egg hunters in the world!
  • Easter Quiz!
The Easter Races it was a dynamic, multi-activity educational competition designed specifically for 5th-grade students to explore the cultural and historical aspects of the holiday.
The competition is structured around several interactive components:
  • Vocabulary & Word Games: Students participate in "Easter words Races".
  • Cultural Exploration: The event includes segments on "Easter Facts" and "Holiday Stories," covering the history of the Easter Bunny, the origins of chocolate candy in the early 1800s, and the significance of the goddess Eostor.
  • Logic & Comprehension: To test their knowledge, students engage in "Riddles time" and an "Easter Quiz" that covers both the secular and religious traditions associated with the celebration.
We also reflecting on how this holiday is selebrated in Ukraine or England, and concluded that these traditions all share the same joyful aims. It was a fantastic way to practice English while celebrating the beauty of spring.
Happy Easter to everyone!

St. Patrick's Day

Today we had some school events connected to St.Patrick's Day.

First of all we had a School-Wide Quest. There were coded some funny riddles connected with the symbols of this Irish holiday and Ireland itself. The leprechaunt didn't want pupils to get his "pot of gold", so he played some tricks with children by hiding in codes and making mess in QUEST.

Pupils from 5th to 9th forms could take part in it working alone or in group. The most active were 5th, 6th, and 7th forms. The first it was done by the girls from the 5th form. Our congratulations.

Also during the lessons of English children could learn some new information and unusual facts about this holiday history, traditions and ways of celebration. At the end they could show their knowledge and played the games.

First three winners could get their small prizes. Well done!

Taras Shevchenko's life

This week we had a list of events that were connected with life and famous works of our favourite poet and artist - Taras Shevchenko.

The main event was "QR Treasure Hunt". It was devoted to the famous poems of Taras Shevchenko, that everyone know from the very early years. They were in english and I coded them. I displayed QR codes in different places of our school. Here teenagers could find audio or video -recording of some of them, and even have a song that was based on one of the Taras's poem. They should guess all titles of those poems correctly. The pupils from 5th to 9th forms could took part at this Hunt in groups or alone. They have time till the last lesson to do this task. The winners were 3 groups. The most active were 6th form and 7th form. The first, this task were done by Natalia from the 7th form. All winners  got a sweet prizes.

So the collegues from all the schools of Semyduby Territirial Community could visit it. The End of the 2025 Year.

This Year is coming to the end and it's time to slow down and to reflect. Of course it was a little bit hard  half of a school year. There were some problems to solve and some moments to joy. And we done with all its challenges with a strong will and patience. I hope the next 2026 year will bring us  hope and believing in a good future for our children and us, ukrainians.

At the End of this year I want  to wish  something for everyone:
My dear students! This year has been difficult. You have studied despite everything, asked difficult questions and made me smile even on the hardest days.
I wish you to find something that truly excites you in the new year. Let learning not be a duty, but an interesting adventure.
Do not be afraid of mistakes - they are steps to your success.
May every day bring a small victory, and your dreams come true faster than you can dream them under the Christmas tree.
Be brave, be curious and protect the light within yourself!

For fellow teachers: Resilience and harmony
Dear colleagues! You and I are one big family that holds the educational front. Thank you for your support, for every piece of advice in the teacher's office and for your inexhaustible patience.
I wish you a "resourceful" state: that there is more inspiration than checking notebooks, and that there is enough energy for both lessons and your own life.
I wish grateful students: may their burning eyes be your best reward.
Home comfort: may peace, warmth, and people who love you not for your profession, but simply for who you are, await you at home.
Peace to all of us!

For all Ukrainians:
May 2026 be the year of our Victory, peaceful nights, and realized plans. May there be only "excellent" moments in the diaries of life, and may the heart always feel the warmth of its native home!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

Our December.

The most favourite holiday for all children at this time  - St.Nicholas Day. We celebrated it on the 6th of December. Of course we organised a special holiday for our children -  a festive all-school Quest. My students also took part in it. They did all the tasks so quickly. So I was really surprised.

On my English station they could find the main difference between Santa Claus facts and St. Nicholas life facts. They  find the hiding words of the favourite song about St.Nicholas. After that they could listen this song in English. And they also decoded the secret message. After all these tasks were done succesfully the team could get some special puzzle. And finaly, they got all puzzles together and could get some sweet prizes. It was really fun for them.

At the End of December I organized aspecial New Year Quest for my students with special prizes. Everyone has done tasks at 4 stations. These were tasks about Christmas trees all around Ukraine, how do they look like in different cities of our country. They found out some funny New Year traditions  all around the world. Also they solved the winter riddles and found out funny names of St. Nicholas in different countries. The most interesting for them was the last station "Lucky wheel". Everyone could get some small prizes.

Also we had a special event at the library on this day. Everyone, who have read some book, could tookpart at the funny lotery. So, a lot of children from the different classes of our school could get some funny prizes and special tickets with "bonuses" in next year. My students also got some of them.

Olympiad Autumn 25-26

During the November some of my pupils decided to take part at All-Ukrainian online Olympiad from English.

These were 4 pupils from the 5th Grade (three pupils got the diploma of the first degree, and one pupil got the Diplomas of the second degree)  and two pupils from the 8th Grade (one pupil got the Diploma of the second  degree).

I am so proud of you, my dears! Congratulations!

The week of English

During this week we tryed to remember some facts about favourite children`s holiday - Halloween.

So I organized some competitions, quest, show of talents in different classes.

Let's start from the 3d form. We had competition: "What is Halloween?" Two teams fight for the prize. During this competition they revised some Halloween creatures, tryed to "clean" the house from the noisy ghosts, helped Winnie with Wilbur to prepare for family coming and "cleaned" her room, and of course we decorated the witch`s house with special "decorations". Everything was ready for family meating in the best way. So, the both teams get the nice prizes from Winnie for their work.

In the 4th form we transformed into the Ghost hunters and tryed to help the city to stay safe from different creatures. We "went" around the town to find the ghosts, we got some calls from the citizents where the dangerous creatures may be. Also we visited some haunted houses and "cleaned" them from the monsters. And the last adventure waited for us in the city park - where we caught some funny ghosts. Of course the autorities of the city were grateful for our great job, and they honorably presented our teams the best rewards - "Key from the city". As both team get the equal points, they also got this prestigeous rewards. The friendship always wins.

In the 5th form we had i show of talents: "Winnie-the-Witch goes to a party". Partisipants needed to get to the witches party, and did all the tasks to show their best talants in different spheres. So we created three witches` teams. Every team prepared the best outlook for their participant, meet with scary judges, and did three tasks to show their creativity, magical powers, and the abilyty to create the most funny and also spooky stories. And every team showed their best results. So, all partisipants of this talant show got thier awards. Well done, my dear.

And the most unusual was the Quest about Ukrainian Myphycal Creatures in the 6th form: "How the Cossacks...". As the background I took one of the series of the favourite ukrainian cartoon with the same name. Of course I extended the story in my own way. So two teams needed to save the brave cossack Tur from the evil spirits of Ukrainian folklore. The both teams traveled with help of their maps. On their way they met bad and good creatures of the village and homes, midnight creatures and even the forest spirits. And also we could revise and get an extra points for the titles of those books, and names of their ukrainian authours, where these creatures were described. The team of the cossack Grai made it with better result, so they got the honorable Cossack`s Gramota from the Hetman of Zaporizhzhia Sich.

Learning

During the period of 30.09 till 04.10 I took part at courses. They were conducted by the Rivne Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education.

These courses were interesting and I could refresh some knowledges from disfferent topics. The most exciting and useful was the using IT in work of teacher and talk with the psychologist about work with teenagers and about burning out in our profession and some nice advices on this topic.

I hope everyone was able to take something useful from these courses.

Not everyone could do all the tasks. But every partisipant could learn a lot of new and interesting facts about the Wizards' World.

May 8 is the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, celebrated in Ukraine and many other countries. This day is a symbol of mourning, respect and gratitude to all who died in the war, and a reminder of the need to fight against any Nazism and fascism. We revised all events of that times and commemorated all people who died in this terrible war. And the red poppies were symbols of our sorrow.

On the 14th of May we had an excursion to the Rivne Zoo. My pupils could see the diversity of  animals, saw their favourite one,  learnt something new about their style of life, and play on a nice playground in the centre of the zoo. Everyone were happy and enjoyed this trip.
