The Beginning of the School Year.

Congratulations on the beginning of the new academic year! I wish each of us inexhaustible patience, creative inspiration and incredible students.

🔑 Results of the August studies "Foreign Languages - 2026": what to pay attention to?

This year's instructional and methodological recommendations outlined important guidelines for our work. The main priority areas of our activity include:

  • Continuation of the reform of the National Secondary School in the middle level (implementation of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education for grades 5-9).
  • Overcoming educational losses caused by martial law and past quarantines.
  • Psychological support and mental health of all participants in the educational process.
  • Key changes in assessment: Finally, we have a significant simplification of paperwork! Instead of the complicated presentation of current grades by separate groups of results (Gr1/Gr2/Gr3) in each lesson, we are moving to a single semester grade for the subject.
  • Current grades no longer need to be written down by groups of results in the journal.

🌱 Idea for the first lesson: “The Language of Dignity”

The first bell is the best time to talk about values. We suggest starting the school year with an interactive lesson on the topic “The Language of Dignity”, which focuses on empathy, respect and inclusion.

Here are some proven ideas for classroom activities:

  • Group Work - “Dignity Translator”: Have students reframe toxic phrases (like “You’re stupid, this is an elementary task”) into empathetic and constructive ones (“This task seems simple to me. Let me explain to you how to solve it?”)
  • Discussion of “Situations in the Class Chat”: Analyze real-life cases (e.g., ignoring and boycotting a newcomer in a general chat)
  • Ask students: “Is ignoring disrespectful? Why is it important to maintain a culture of dignity even online?”
  • Watch and discuss a video about the power of empathy and its role in creating a safe space in the classroom
  • Creating the “Rules of Dignity Language”: Together with the class, formulate 10 simple rules of communication (for example: use polite words, avoid derogatory expressions, listen carefully and speak the truth with respect).

The main message that should be conveyed to each child in this lesson: “Because first of all you are people, and only then - your peculiarities”

Have a successful, inspiring and peaceful school year to all of us!
